National Digital Type 2 Diabetes Remission

Developing a National Digital Type 2 Diabetes Remission Programme

Type 2 diabetes is increasing in Scotland and currently affecting over 310,000 people. The number of cases is expected to reach 420,000 by 2044.

As the average age of diagnosis continues to fall, the risk of serious long term health complications is growing.

The condition contributes to poor health, increases health inequalities, and places growing pressure on NHS services.  Research shows that Type 2 diabetes can be put into remission through significant weight loss and sustained lifestyle changes.

The National Digital Type 2 Diabetes Programme has been developed in collaboration with the Accelerated National Innovation Adoption (ANIA) pathway and NHS Scotland Partners, along with specialist input from Weight Management and Primary Care clinicians.
