What is ANIA?
The Accelerated National Innovation Adoption pathway (ANIA) is an initiative focused on fast tracking the adoption of proven technological innovations across NHS Scotland.
ANIA brings together partners from across NHSScotland and Scottish Government with complementary capabilities to identify, assess and deliver high impact innovations for deployment at scale, for the benefit of patients across Scotland.
What is the aim of the National Digital Type 2 Diabetes Remission Programme?
The aim is to implement a Digital Type 2 Diabetes Remission Programme across Scotland supporting 3,000 eligible patients to access the programme. It is anticipated that 35-45% of participants will achieve remission as defined in SIGN guidelines.

What is the referral process?
Referrals from Primary Care to the national provider will continue to be made via SCI Gateway for patient enrolment onto the National Digital Type 2 Diabetes Remission Programme
Is patient data safe?
Patient data is shared between primary care practitioner(s) and weight management specialist services in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
When will this be available in my Health Board?
The programme will be open to referrals from January 2026. Primary care will be able to refer patients onto the programme via direct referral to the national provider.
