Actions for adoption

As part of this programme we have produced information to raise awareness of other actions that can contribute to reducing carbon emissions. 

The documents below provide a summary of the difference these actions could have.  Where appropriate they signpost to further information. 

• Enable Active Travel
• Reducing the use of ethyl chloride spray in testing sensory level for neuraxial and regional blocks
• Using telephone and video conferencing appointments to support reducing NHS Scotland’s carbon footprint
• Switch off non-productive devices
• Introduce Reusable Plastic Trays
• Rationalising Patient Warming devices

Although there is no formal requirement to report on these actions through the National Green Theatres Programme, Boards are encouraged to consider how they are adopting these actions ensuring they are connected with any relevant initiatives or national work streams.
