The Urology Specialty Delivery Group (SDG) has been established to support, innovate and develop high quality urology services across NHS Scotland, reducing unwarranted variation, promoting a best-in-class and where appropriate once-for-Scotland approach.

The group is multi-disciplinary, including Urologists, Operational Managers and Nursing staff, with appropriate nominated representation from all regional NHS Boards.

Processes

The group has recently formed and will be looking at how we can implement Active Clinical Referral Triage (ACRT) including Opt-in pathways and Discharge Patient Initiated Review (PIR).

Pathways

Work developed by legacy groups included developing the haematuria pathways which can be accessed here:

The group continues to develop national pathways for high volume conditions.

Workforce and innovation

The group provides an opportunity for sharing new ways of working and innovative approaches to developing our urology workforce.

Measurement

We are continuing to develop measurements to ensure these programmes have the desired benefits for our patients. This includes bespoke data capture to support implementation of processes such as Active Clinical Referral Triage (ACRT) including Opt-in pathways and Discharge Patient Initiated Review (PIR) and increased use of the CfSD Heatmap data collection.
