Chronic Pain Interface Network

Overview

The first meeting of the Chronic Pain Interface Network (CPIN), supported by the Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD), took place on  26 November 2024.

The network includes representatives from Primary Care and Specialist Chronic Pain services such as -  GPs, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists through to Associate Medical Directors, Clinical Directors, and Project Managers.

The CPIN provides a platform for members to share case studies of what works in multidisciplinary team (MDT) approaches to supporting people living with chronic pain in primary care.

The network aims to:

  • Demonstrate the impact of Chronic Pain case studies on patients and Primary Care clinicians
  • Investigate options to support Interface Working between the Primary Care multi-professional team and Secondary Care Chronic Pain teams
  • Understand how MDT working in Primary Care affects referrals to secondary care
  • Support person-centred, value-based care delivered close to home – including prescribing and deprescribing of specific medications
  • Share resources such as guidelines, CPD materials, consultation and non-pharmacological approaches
  • Promote peer support across teams and professions

The work of the network is aligned with the Scottish Government Pain Management Service Delivery Framework and Implementation Plan. CfSD also has close working links with the Scottish Government’s Pain Task Force, with members actively involved in CPIN.

The Chronic Pain Interface Network is based on the Primary Care Chronic Pain Pathway.  Details of the Primary Care Chronic Pain Pathway will be shared soon.
