Ambulatory Electrocardiogram (aECG) Patch

Ambulatory Electrocardiogram (aECG) Patch

In December 2024, the Innovations Design Authority (IDA) approved the Strategic Case for Ambulatory Electrocardiogram (aECG) Patch Monitors to move to Value Case. The Value Case further explored the opportunity to enhance the current diagnosis to treatment pathway for atrial fibrillation (AF) using ECG patch technology.

The aECG Patch technology could improve patient experience, reduce diagnostic waiting times, improve time to treatment with the potential to prevent significant numbers of stroke and AF related heart complications.

This will in turn reduce demands on NHS Scotland.

As of October 2025, this has now been approved funding and the process of adoption is underway.
